Afolashade Shona-Aluko inaugurates Association of Female Skilled Artisans in Canada

Dr. Yeye Afolashade Shona-Aluko, also known as Yeye Bobajiro Oodua, formally launched the Association of Female Skilled Artisans Initiative Canada (AOFSAIC) on May 16th at the Salvation Army Shelter in Brampton, Ontario, Canada, alongside respected community leaders and dignitaries.

A renowned educationist, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and advocate for women empowerment, Yeye Afolashade stated that the Canadian branch was established to expand opportunities for African women through skill acquisition, entrepreneurship, and economic empowerment. The initiative focuses on helping women develop practical skills such as tailoring, hairdressing, crafts, and other vocational trades to promote financial independence and self-reliance.

The launch attracted notable personalities including Chief Habeeb Olalekan Okunola, Chief Victor Alonge, Queen Mother Delois Blakely, Queen Esther Ejim, Chief Jumoke Abegunde, and many others who commended her dedication to community development and women empowerment.

Speaking at the event, HRH Dr. Olusegun Aderemi, the Atayero of Aramoko Ekiti, emphasized the importance of artisans in economic growth and national development, noting that empowering women through vocational initiatives contributes greatly to inclusive progress and sustainable communities.

Yeye Afolashade also highlighted that the association already operates successfully across several cities in Nigeria and that establishing a Canadian chapter is a strategic step towards supporting more women, especially within immigrant communities seeking opportunities for growth and entrepreneurship.

With over fifty years of experience in education, business, and humanitarian service, Yeye Afolashade continues to inspire lives through mentorship, philanthropy, advocacy, and empowerment programs focused on women, youths, and the less privileged.
